Key Features And Functions
The Mini-Hippo includes several user-friendly features that simplify the weighing process, ensuring you get quick, accurate results every time.
How Do You Use The Tare Function?
The tare function subtracts a container's weight, so you only measure what's inside. Simply place your empty tray on the scale, press the "TARE" button to reset the display to zero, and then add your material. This feature is crucial for accuracy when working with herbs or spices.
Does This Scale Have An Auto-Off Feature?
Yes, the Mini-Hippo is equipped with an auto shut-off function to conserve battery life. If the scale is left inactive for a short period, it will automatically power down. This smart feature means you won't have to worry about accidentally draining the batteries.
What Weighing Units Can It Measure?
This versatile scale offers several common units of measurement. You can easily cycle between grams (g), ounces (oz), troy ounces (ozt), pennyweight (dwt), carats (ct), and grains (gn) by pressing the "MODE" button. This makes it adaptable for everything from kitchen recipes to hobby materials.
Primary Use-Cases
Is This A Good Scale For Weighing Herbs?
Absolutely. The Mini-Hippo's 0.1g readability is ideal for weighing dry herbs. It offers enough precision to measure typical amounts accurately without the extreme sensitivity of a 0.01g scale, which can be affected by small vibrations or air drafts. For consistent prep, a quality herb grinder helps break down dry herb evenly before weighing.
Beyond herbs, it also excels as a kitchen scale for recipes, a tool for weighing small accessories, or a hobby scale for parts and beads. Its versatility makes it a valuable addition to any home
